Corrections policy

Everything Vouch publishes is a dated reading of a source anyone can open. Sometimes a reading is wrong. This page says how to tell us, what we do about it, and why the fix stays visible on the page instead of disappearing into it. How the readings are built in the first place is on how we score.

Tell us like this

  • Send the page, the sentence as we published it, and a source we can open. That is all we need and it is genuinely faster than an explanation.
  • You do not have to be the vendor. Anyone can report an error and we treat the report the same either way.

What happens next

  • We open the source ourselves rather than taking the report on trust, in the same way we would for any figure we publish.
  • If it is wrong, we fix it and the correction is dated on the page itself. If it is right, we say so and explain what the evidence was. If it changed after we read it, that is not an error on either side and the page gets the new reading with the new date.

Why corrections stay visible

  • A number that quietly changes is worse than a number that was wrong, because a reader cannot tell which one they are looking at. So corrections are written into the page rather than edited over.
  • This has cost us pages. One tool was published and withdrawn the same day when its score turned out to rest on a single measured dimension. A capability figure once traced back to a leaderboard row that no longer existed, because that board resets monthly. Both are on the record because hiding them would make every other figure here worth less.

What a correction is not

  • Disagreeing with a verdict is not a correction. A score is a measurement against a published method, and we will explain how one was built to anyone who asks, but a low result is not an error to be fixed.
  • A vendor changing its terms after we read them is not an error either. It is a new reading, and it gets a new date.
  • Paying us does not change any of this. What payment does and does not buy is on the refund policy.
