A paraphraser rewrites a passage in different words while keeping its meaning. Buyers arrive with two jobs. One is editing: the draft is yours, it reads clumsy or too long, and you want it clearer. The other is putting somebody else's material into your own sentences, which is a writing job with an integrity question attached, and this page does not measure or advise on whether any rewrite gets past any checker.
A paraphraser is not the same product as a humanizer, and the difference decides which card a reader should be on. A paraphraser is sold on clarity, tone and length; a humanizer is sold on making text that a language model produced read as though a person wrote it. Some vendors ship both from one account, and where that is true the card says so with the date it was checked.
What the cards here measure is what the plans cost and in which unit, what the free tier actually allows before it stops, what the vendor's own terms say about the text you paste and the text you get back, what the vendor commits to about access, and what customers report wherever a record can be attributed to the product. Where an independent measurement of rewrite quality does not exist, the capability position carries a named criterion under its own name rather than a guess.

Read the dimensions, not the composite
Start with the unit, not the headline price. These products are metered in different currencies: words per rewrite, rewrites per day, characters per month, or a flat subscription. Two plans at the same monthly figure can differ by an order of magnitude in what they let you process.
Then read the free tier's ceiling and whether it refills. A one-time sample and a daily allowance are both called free, and only one of them survives a working week.
And read the licence before you paste anything you would not publish. A paraphraser receives your whole passage, so who owns the rewrite, whether you may use it commercially, and what the vendor may do with what you sent are the questions that decide whether the tool fits paid work at all.
Where these numbers come from
Capability is sourced from public output-quality arenas (blind pairwise votes) or from a published accuracy study where no arena covers the category, usability from review-crowd aggregates weighted by sample size, value from verified pricing, and commercial terms from clause positions read off the vendor’s own legal documents on a stated date. Where none of those exists for a tool, the row carries a named criterion instead: a different measurement, taken from saved sources under its own rubric, and the card prints that criterion’s name and the question it answers in place of the axis heading, so the row is never read as the axis it could not fill. This page orders its cards by composite, largest first, computed at build time from the scores rather than chosen by us. A page holding a single card is not a ranking: nothing is ordered, nothing is called best, and no badge is shown.
READ THE CAPABILITY COLUMN WITH ITS LABEL, because on these cards it is not measuring capability. The cell publishes the criterion `delivery_envelope_v1`, which asks what the entry paid tier lets you take away: whether the output is yours to edit anywhere, whether the work can be automated, which surfaces the priced tier runs on, and which languages the tool can rewrite in rather than merely read. That is a different question from whether the rewrite is any good, and the card is labelled for the question it answers rather than the one it sits under.
WHY THERE IS NOTHING BETTER TO PUT THERE, counted rather than assumed on 2026-09-12. No arena seats these products against one another anywhere this desk can reach, and no standing board publishes per-product rows. A search on 12 September 2026 across arXiv, ACL Anthology, Crossref, OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, Hugging Face Spaces and the public arena boards surfaced exactly one independent peer-reviewed paper that benchmarks these products with per-product numbers; its metric is the similarity between the original passage and the rewrite, which scores how little a tool changed the words, and a tool that changed nothing would score at the top of it. That paper is saved and not used, with the reasoning written down, so the rejection can be checked rather than taken on trust. If an independent measurement of rewrite quality appears, the cell takes its own name back.
